Our brief was to create an elegant ‘Save the Date’ emailer and physical invite for the grand opening of BirdLife South Africa’s new headquarters. Our idea was to build BirdLife South Africa a nest; a visual representation of its new home.
We sourced a Weaver bird’s nest (discarded of course), to create a stop-motion video of a nest being constructed. Invitees received physical invites which included a piece of wire, representing a twig, which they were asked to bring to the event. On the night the ‘twigs’ were woven by artist Lindy Rodwell van Hasselt into a nest sculpture that now adorns BirdLife South Africa’s new home.
